Fixed eruption due to quinine in tonic water: A case report with high-performance liquid chromatography and ultraviolet A analyses

摘要: Fixed drug eruption is a common cutaneous adverse reaction in young patients with characteristic clinical appearance. However, the diagnosis and identification of substance may be difficult if food or additives provoke fixed eruption. A 26-year-old man had history two episodes erythema residual pigmentation. Close examination including his diet addition to an oral challenge test patch testing led secondary quinine tonic water. We examined for presence commercially available brands water using ultraviolet irradiation high-performance liquid chromatography. Both Schweppes CANADA DRY emitted fluorescent light upon irradiation, contained at concentrations 67.9 61.3 mg/L, respectively. Quinine some waters trigger
