摘要: Responses of baldcypress (Taxodium distichum) seedlings to soil moisture were studied test the hypothesis that flooding may lead seedling's higher susceptibility drought. Treatments included a well-watered but drained control (C), continuously flooded (CF), followed by drought (CD), and (FD). Gas exchange values revealed no significant effects on net photosynthetic rate (PN) in response flooding. In contrast, after onset drought, PN was significantly reduced CD FD plants. Significant growth reductions under mild conditions indicated sensitive. However, comparison gas rates responses between plants prior had detectable effect subsequent sensitivity These findings explain persistence wetland habitats characterized periodic
