Urban Sprawl Mapping and Landuse Change Detection in and around Udupi Town: A Remote Sensing based Approach

摘要: Major changes in land utilization during 2003 -2013 period have been analyzed to understand urban sprawl pattern and around Udupi town using satellite images. LISS III PAN images of January IV Cartosat 2013 were utilized for preparing hybrid products. The study is area geographically located between 12 p 45’N 13 latitudes 74 30’E 75 00’E longitudes. shows that there a significant increase settlements built-up the period. settlement increased from 16.7 sq.km 41.9 showing an increment 150% compared 2003. Agricultural by 22% whereas plantation decreased 8%, forest 12% scrub vegetation 42%. Barren/waste also showed decrease due conversion area. notable attributed intensive urbanization industrial expansion recent time.
