摘要: The sensing of internal bodily signals, a process known as interoception, contributes to subjective emotional feeling states that can guide empathic understanding the emotions others. Individuals with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) typically show an attenuated intuitive capacity recognise and interpret other peoples' signals. Here we test directly if differences in interoceptive processing relate ability perceive signals from intonation speech (affective prosody) ASC adults. We employed novel prosody paradigm compare recognition individuals group neurotypical controls. Then, larger individuals, tested how affective related objective, metacognitive (awareness) psychological dimensions interoception. showed reduced compared Deficits performance on task were mitigated by greater awareness, so better able judge prosodic emotion they had insight into their own abilities. This data links access representations consciously expression others, suggesting crossmodal target for interventions enhance interpersonal skills.
