摘要: Space use by black-backed jackals was investigated between November 1995 and February 1997 in the Mokolodi Nature Reserve (MNR) southeastern Botswana. Mean aggregate home-range size for three radio-collared 15.9 km2. varied seasons with a tendency range expansion during winter. The first two had similar activity patterns were most active at dawn dusk. Distances moved hourly re-locations ranged from 2 m to 3000 m, average distances hourly relocations differed individuals. mean distance travelled per 24-hour period 14.6 km. Time of day influenced movements considerably, greater being Extraterritorial excursions directed towards farmland frequent accounted 21.1 % (n = 66) all radio relocations. Jackals MNR utilized wooded cover denning, predator avoidance foraging. They did not habitats according their proportional availability any season. In used open savanna grassland, Croton/Combretum tree savanna, seasonal floodplains less than expected availability, bush semi-sweet mixed bushveld agricultural areas much more expected. Implications space on management conservation are discussed. Key words : Canis mesomelas ; home range, habitat.
