摘要: A series of in-line curvature sensors on a garment are used to monitor the thoracic and abdominal movements human during respiration. These results obtain volumetric tidal changes torso in agreement with spirometer simultaneously at mouth. The based long-period gratings (LPGs) written progressive three-layered fiber render LPGs insensitive refractive index external fiber. sensor consists grating laid carbon ribbon, which is then encapsulated low-temperature curing silicone rubber. have spectral sensitivity curvature, dλ/dR from ∼7-nm m ∼9-nm m. interrogation technique borrowed derivative spectroscopy monitors transmission profile LPG's attenuation band due curvature. multiplexing achieved by spectrally matching distributed feedback (DFB) lasers LPGs. versatility this sensing confirmed it being six other subjects covering wide range body mass indices. Just fully functional required error around 6%. © 2007 Society Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers.
