摘要: Conspecific brood parasitism (CP) is a facultative breeding tactic whereby females lay their eggs in the nests of conspecifics. In some species, potential hosts have evolved ability to identify and reject foreign from nest. Previous studies suggest that ubiquitous House Sparrow Passer domesticus Spain South Africa employs both CP egg rejection, while population China does not. Given species' invasive range expansions, represents potentially excellent global model system for parasitic rejection across variable ecological conditions. We examined responses Sparrows experimental at three geographically distinct locations (in Israel, North America, New Zealand) provide robust test how general findings previous are. all geographic regions rates were negligible not statistically different background disappearance control eggs, suggesting suitable species experiments on scale.
