Atypical neuroleptics: autonomy and compliance?

摘要: Non-compliance is a major stumbling block to the effectiveness of drug therapy. The nurse, both in hospital and community, has crucial role play overcoming this problem benefit patient. Recent treatment advances, 'new-generation' anti-depressants atypical neuroleptics, make issue highly topical mental health nursing. neuroleptics are pharmacological breakthrough schizophrenia, which could herald new era psychiatry. These medicines give benefits older (typical) but with fewer side-effects. Neuroleptics sometimes called antipsychotics, antischizophrenics or tranquillisers. Currently not available depot form. This critical review considers literature on interventions promote compliance generally reflects nursing implications relevant neuroleptics. Three main forms emerge from review; these labelled as: imposed compliance, chosen active compliance. Historically shows gradual trend towards realization by professionals that increased patient autonomy involvement relates improved change thinking reflected name 'adherence', begun replace term 'compliance'. It concluded nurses have key enabling reconceptualization practice.
