摘要: The aims of this paper were to assess whether anticipated barriers change in diet and exercise which cited before a health check intervention related subsequent behaviour changes. In 1989 lifestyle questionnaire was posted 17,965 people aged 35-64 who registered with five general practices Bedfordshire. Taking account non-contacts, response rate 80.3% achieved 11,090 described their dietary habits. Those expressing an interest changing each asked identify reasons why might be difficult. Two types barriers--"internal" "external"--were identified. A total 2205 respondents invited attend Year One recheck three years later 1660 attended. subgroup improvement examined relation the participants' baseline characteristics, including type selected. Internal (e.g. lack willpower, too lazy, busy) chosen most frequently. logistic regression range variables those selected only internal less likely take more (OR 0.59, 95% CI 0.41, 0.86) than external no transport, can't afford sports facilities) or mixed changing. There similar but not statistically significant trend for 0.78, 0.48, 1.28). are aware limitations may better placed circumvent them. Further research is needed explore relationship between barrier change.
