摘要: Objective  To compare the effectiveness of two second generation endometrial ablation techniques (microwave and thermal balloon ablation) with first to treat heavy menstrual bleeding in women. Search strategy  We searched Cochrane Library (issue 3, 2002), National Research Register, MEDLINE (1966 August Embase (1980 2002) Web Science Proceedings (all years). also reference lists contacted experts manufacturers field. Selection criteria  Randomised controlled trials microwave versus transcervical resection rollerball ablation, alone or combination, were included. Data collection analysis  Two reviewers independently selected studies for inclusion extracted data. As there was considerable clinical methodological heterogeneity among studies, meta-analysis not undertaken results are presented descriptively. Results  randomised eight (six trials) included review. No significant differences found between terms amenorrhoea, patterns, pre-menstrual symptoms, patient satisfaction quality life. Microwave had significantly shorter operating theatre times than techniques. Adverse effects few all techniques, but fewer peri-operative adverse techniques. Conclusion  alternatives treating bleeding. head-to-head have been is yet enough evidence these
