摘要: Abstract Scanning Tunnelling Microscopy (STM) has been applied to the study of surfaces carbon fibers. The results have clearly shown difference in surface features and structural discrepancies between fibers from different precursors after various heat treatments. At large scales, some common are always present on a series petroleum mesophase pitch-based They characterized by ribbons, smaller stripe-form crystallite stackings discontinuous boundaries. For coal fiber, ribbons more like twisted strands, whereas for PAN-based fiber (M40), not discerned, but displays rougher rock-like stacks. atomic resolution at least three kinds graphitic organisations observed ex-pitch fibers: nodular texture, step-like texture graphene, only graphene textures visualized M40 fiber. also revealed that even carbonization temperatures, exhibit high degree organisation, which is enhanced graphitization treatment. experimental presented discussed.
