摘要: Aim. This paper describes a systematic review of the predominant non-somatic effects patient assault on nurses. Background. Patient aggression towards nurses is longstanding problem in most nursing domains. Although reports consequences physical are more numerous, non-physical create much suffering. Method. A literature from 1983 to May 2003 was conducted using Medline, CINAHL, PsychINFO and PSYINDEX databases. Articles international journals English or German reporting at least three responses were included. Findings. The electronic search produced 6616 articles. After application inclusion exclusion criteria, 25 texts eight countries four domains remained. Twenty-eight main found, these categorized system suggested by Lanza including bio-physiological, emotional, cognitive, social dimensions. anger, fear anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms, guilt, self-blame, shame. These occurred across domains. Conclusion. Despite differing countries, cultures, research designs settings, nurses’ similar. Standardized questionnaires could help improve estimations real prevalence effects. Given suffering caused effects, should be aimed preventing developing better ways prepare cope with this problem.
