摘要: We investigated the mid stream water quality of Ganga river as influenced by aerially - driven heavy metals at Varanasi, India. Twelve sampling stations were selected along a 20 km long stretch river. Mid sub-surface samples collected fortnightly intervals from all sites acid digested and analyzed for Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb Zn. The data revealed that mid-stream Varanasi is invariably contaminated metals. Highest concentrations Ni recorded during winter Zn summer season. overall concentration in showed trend : > Cr Cu Cd. Concentrations high down stations. Correlation analysis metal had significant positive relationship with rate atmospheric deposition respective sites. Although these remained below permissible limits Indian standards drinking water, levels three stations, above internationally recommended (WHO) maximum admissible (MAC). These observations suggest use such may lead to potential health risk long-run. study has further relevance understanding atmosphere interaction polluted environment management bodies even those situated away direct anthropogenic discharge.
