摘要: Management of irradiated fuel is an important component commercial nuclear power production. Although it broadly agreed that the disposition some fraction in geological repositories will be necessary, there a range options can considered affect exactly what material disposed manner. Furthermore, until are available to accept fuel, these materials must safely stored. Temporary storage has traditionally been conducted pools, and this still true for freshly discharged fuel. Criticality control technologies have led greater efficiencies packing into pools. With continued delays establishing permanent repositories, utilities begun move inventory dry storage. Fuel cycle being worldwide include once-through cycle, limited recycle which U Pu recycled back reactors as mixed oxide advance partitioning transmutation schemes designed reduce long term hazards associated with disposal from millions years few hundred years.
