摘要: Between 1976 and 1978 airborne organochlorines were measured over the northern Indian Ocean North Atlantic. Shipboard measurements in made equatorial Arabian Sea, Persian Gulf Red Sea. In Atlantic samples collected at Barbados, southern tip of Newfoundland, from shipboard on a cruise across trades region. Collections by pulling air through glass fiber filter followed column polyurethane foam. Analyses done packed capillary gas chromatography using electron capture detection. The most striking difference organochlorine patterns between two oceans is much higher DDT concentrations eastern seas. Average levels Sea-Persian Gulf-Red Sea area 25–40 times 3.0 pg m−3 background value. These likely result continued use countries bordering these areas. By contrast, United States, Canada European has ceased. The prevalent chlorinated pesticides chlordane polychloroterpenes, both which are still used States.
