摘要: Radio telemetry has been an important research tool in waterfowl studies for >20 years, yet little effort made to evaluate potential effects of transmitters on the birds that carry them. As part a 4-year mallard (Arras platyrhynchos) study prairie pothole region North Dakota and Minnesota, we compared radio-marked unmarked female mallards terms percent time observed feeding, resting, preening; nest initiation date; clutch size egg volume. Radio-marked females carried 23-g back-mounted transmitter attached with 2-loop harness (Dwyer 1972).
