Epidemiology and surgical management of breast cancer in gynecological department of Douala General Hospital

摘要: Introduction: Breast cancer is one of the most common gynecological cancers in our environment. Douala General Hospital (DGH) two main centers Cameroon, where cancerous patient can receive multidisciplinary management including radiotherapy. Methods: The aim study was to describe epidemiological, clinical profile and surgical patients with breast department DGH. Results: A total 42 were recruited within a period 3 years (from November 2006 October 2009). mean age 46 (range: 29-73 years). Characteristics group as followed: female sex (100%); feeding (95.245%); familial history (7.14%); 14.29% nulliparous 19.05% primiparous. mode discovering disease auto examination (92.86%). tumor size ranges from 2cm 20cm 6.83cm. Patients then mostly diagnosed at stage III (54.76%) WHO classification. Only 2.38% I. method diagnosis fine needle aspiration. Neo adjuvant treatment administered 78.57% mastectomy Many are still followed up (59.52%), but we already had mortality rate end December 2010. We no feedback for 26.19% group.
