摘要: Despite serving as a teaching, research and biodiversity conservation facility for over 60 years, the faunal composition at University of Ghana Botanical Garden (UGBG) is virtually unknown. This study documents richness, abundance, diversity, distribution status small mammals UGBG. The methodology involved live-trapping using Sherman live-traps. Overall, 39 individuals belonging to three mammalian orders (Rodentia, Soricomorpha Erinaceomorpha) seven species, comprising four rodents, two shrews one hedgehog were recorded in 1,080 trap-nights. Overall trapping success species diversity (Shannon-Wiener H’ Simpson’s 1-D) indices therefore 3.61%, 1.59 0.76, respectively. Species richness highest (four species; Hʹ = 1.33, 1-D 0.72) shrubland lowest (two 0.48, 0.3) grassland. Overlaps among sites low, with C. olivieri being only common all sites. Crocidura was most abundant (41.2%) forest, whereas M. erythroleucus dominated (81.3%) Arvicanthis niloticus solatus oliviera equally shrubland. n. solatus, P. daltoni, oliviera, foxi A. albiventris are first records Accra Plains. These add list Plains, highlight importance UGBG mammal zoogeography Ghana.
