摘要: The objective of this study was to survey the use observation units (OUs) in United States. A written mailed every third hospital (sequential by zip code) There a 32.9% response (522 1588 hospitals). total 18.8% hospitals had an OU with another 11.6% planning open OU. Those that OUs higher overall ED census, rate diversion ambulances, and were more likely be metropolitan areas (P <.05), but there no relationship payor mix or admission rate. characterized mean 4.8 years existence, 57.3% administratively responsible, 59.4% clinically 1330 patients per year, average length stay 15.3 hours, 4.2 nurse-to-patient ratio, 22.3%
