摘要: Participants searched for a picture of an object, and the object was either typical or atypical category member. The cued by its basic-level name. Of greatest interest whether it would be easier to search objects than objects. answer “yes,” but only in qualified sense: There large typicality effect on response time name cues, almost none found locate (i.e., first fixate) target. Instead, influenced verification time—the respond target once fixated. Typicality is thus apparently irrelevant when well specified cue; even underspecified (as with cue), does not aid attentional guidance, facilitates categorization.
