摘要: A historical perspective on our understanding of the formation ostracod valves and what they consist is presented here, together with history investigations chemistry valves. It now clear that are made 3 distinct layers consisting calcite crystallites/rhombs held by a significant network organic fibrils which may also contribute to trace elemental composition when analysed solution chemistry. The outer epicuticle valves, well preserved such as in modern material, contributes an enrichment magnesium, this ought be taken into account interpreting Mg/Ca for use water temperature reconstructions. Recommendations about analytical techniques used chemical analysis presented.
