摘要: This chapter focuses on the importance of considering network-based resources and access to such in studying social capital health for neighborhood or local community contexts. Specifically, it draws upon work French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu, whose conceptualization capital, as part a more elaborate “practice theory” distribution power society (e.g., Bourdieu & Wacquant, 1992), has only recently received attention by researchers study and, broadly, socioeconomic determinants individual population health. Prior on-going theoretical empirical research are used support need conceptualize inhered within networks consisting residents—as well potentially other neighborhoods institutions—that may be residents mutual action.
