XMRV has been detected varying frequencies cases of and chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), as well small proportion healthy individuals. An etiologic link between infection disease, however, yet to be established. Here, we summarize existing knowledge regarding characteristics replication, association CFS, potential mechanisms pathophysiology. We also highlight several areas, such establishment standardized assays development animal models, future directions advance our current understanding its relevance disease.
