Modelling mailing list behaviour in open source projects: the case of ARM embedded Linux

摘要: One of the benefits firms can derive from using Open Source Software (OSS) is informal development collaboration, and primary tool for collaboration coordination are group mailing lists. The purpose paper modelling lists behaviour in OSS projects, a set descriptors that could inform about their quality evolution. As case study, list focused on ARM embedded Linux has been selected. Messages posted to this 2001 2006 have extracted, factor analysis applied obtain underlying patterns behaviours. Theory communities practice used understand meaning extracted patterns. Their time distribution finally described. provides new insights into as source support projects highlights importance an involved core individuals inside community.
