Periodic fluctuations in the Earth-ionosphere waveguide

摘要: VLF phase and amplitude measurements made in 1967 at Byrd Station, Antarctica, using 18.6-kHz transmissions from NLK, Washington, have been analyzed for lunar-induced hebdomadal variations. The propagation path was 14,250 km length nearly constant longitude. variations are found to be ±18° ±0.26 dB explained by height changes the D region of ionosphere. variation shows a 0.46-dB increase during Sunday daylight hours, relative Monday-Saturday average, is ascribed man-made region.
