摘要: The multiferroic rare-earth compounds RMnO3 with R=Ho–Yb are shown to be the source of “gigantic” magnetoelectric effects. Application static magnetic or electric field induces a phase transition antiferromagnetic reordering Mn3+ sublattice and ferromagnetic ordering in sublattices. An imbalance Mn3+–R3+ superexchange induced by ferroelectric distortion is revealed as microscopic origin effect.
