Utilization of Kenya's free maternal health services among women living in Kibera slums: a cross-sectional study.

摘要: Introduction This study was aimed at determining factors affecting utilization of public health facilities by pregnant Kenyan women living in Kibera slums, Nairobi since the implementation Free Maternal Service (FMS) Program 2013. Methods a cross-sectional done on 396 who delivered between 2014 and 2015. Interview questions addressed socio-demographic characteristics, perception quality care facilities, awareness FMS Program, antenatal (ANC) delivery service utilization. Results 43.9% facility, 30.3% private non-profit facility (NGO), 22.7% 3.0% home. Of 97% only despite these having free maternal services. Factors that favoured uptake included positive within close proximity, learning about from support group short waiting time before being examined doctor. On other hand, safe delivery, service, accessing foot, ANC attendance were associated with low Conclusion The program can improve if government directs its efforts towards changing women's to access slum areas Nairobi.
