摘要: Forest succession on north slopes in interior Alaska results the development of sphagnum bogs sites formerly occupied by productive forest. This process is one gradual deterioration site associated with accumulation moss layers forest floor. Advancing accompanied an increasing nitrogen deficiency black spruce trees. Black growing are extremely deficient. As thicken, soils become increasingly cold permafrost rising to within as little 15 inches surface soils. Examination depth distribution revealed very small quantities upper and warmer portions these profiles, bulk located latest thaw, lower layers. In contrast, under birch was warmest Under conditions, much higher rates mineralization soil must be obtained....
