Fabrication and electronic properties of GeNi$_2$O$_4$ epitaxial thin film

摘要: Frustrated magnets can host numerous exotic many-body quantum and topological phenomena. Bulk GeNi$_2$O$_4$ spinel is a frustrated magnet with an unusual two-stage transition to antiferromagnetic state spontaneous breaking of cubic symmetry. Here we report on the first growth (001)-oriented thin films MgAl$_2$O$_4$ substrate. The fabricated were characterized by X-ray scattering advanced photoelectron spectroscopies confirming epitaxial high crystallinity stoichiometric films. $S=1$ pyrochlore sublattice help clarify complex mechanism magnetic ordering in bulk opens door towards studies 2D magnetism ultra-thin limit.
