摘要: Abstract In an effort to determine differential patterns of growth for juvenile winter flounder, otolith increments were examined from individuals collected 4 sites spanning the coastline New Jersey, U.S.A. (approximately 200 km) in late May 1990. Increment widths 3 sections left sagitta measured with image analysis system, and number post-metamorphic counted. A linear regression equation based on correspondence between somatic was used calculate daily rates mean increment width each section. Fishes most northern site (Sandy Hook) a mid-coast (Great Bay) significantly smaller total length than other 2 (Barnegat Bay Wildwood). Based counts widths, fishes at Sandy Hook because they younger age; did not differ but all greater foe Hook. contrast, Great had slower rate; similar that site. Thus, age information recorded allowed distinction underlying reasons different size-frequency distributions.
