摘要: Abstract Water utilities in Canada are charged with the important task of ensuring that consumers supplied good quality water satisfies Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Quality published by Health Canada. Over last decade, this job has become increasingly more difficult as source deteriorated due to presence agricultural and industrial pollution. Models climate change predict an increase extremes weather conditions average rainfall. Both predicted erode further water, thereby putting even stress upon managers. Chlorine is prevailing form disinfectant. While it kills most microbes, by-products, including Trihalomethanes, have been identified potentially carcinogenic. This paper addresses gap our understanding importance clean safe drinking Canadians. We report on results from Internet survey conducted July 2004 elicits preferences risk reductions associated cancer microbial illness improvements. Several values policy makers include value mortality reduction, separate morbidity cancer, trade-offs between risks risks.
