摘要: Measurements of hot plasma distribution functions in the midaltitude polar cusp by Dynamics Explorer-1 spacecraft have provided new information on processes magnetosheath injection and transport dependence these phenomena solar-wind parameters. Results included: (1) localization region to high-latitude cusp-magnetosheath interface, (2) movement this toward lower latitudes as B(z) becomes more southward, (3) maintenance quasi-neutrality suprathermal plasmas within cusp, (4) support for merging-type at boundary northward IMF. Plasma flow measurements from led a global IMF-dependent convection model which contains both merging viscous driving forces.
