Quantitative evaluation of plastic strain gradients generated during orthogonal cutting of an aluminum alloy

摘要: Deformation microstructures developed in the material ahead of tool tip 6061 Al alloy samples subjected to an orthogonal cutting process were investigated. Samples hot extruded that contained inherent microstructural markers form extrusion lines cut at a low speed. Metallographic sections examined measure local displacement fields deformed material. This information was used estimate variations shear angles. A method determine plastic strain gradients has been established and distribution equivalent strains summarized diagram constructed from measured deformation
