摘要: BACKGROUND: Studies investigating the factors associated with need for total hip replacement should ideally be based on prospective investigation of new attenders in primary care. AIM: To determine incidence listing replacement, and its predictors, among care a episode pain. DESIGN OF STUDY: Prospective multicentre cohort study. SETTING: One hundred ninety-five patients (mean age = 63 years, 68% female) pain, attending between November 1994 October 1997. At first visit, were evaluated indices pain disability, range movement, radiographic changes osteoarthritis. METHOD: General practitioner participants recruited from membership Primary Care Rheumatology Society to recruit all consecutive Annual follow-up was carried out which being 'put waiting list' replacement. RESULTS: Seven per cent put list within 12 months 23% four years. presentation, duration, severity, (including use stick) restriction internal rotation major clinical predictors list. Radiographic osteoarthritis performed similarly measures. A simple scoring system both severity two measures derived that identified groups at high likelihood (sensitivity 76%) low false-positive rate (specificity 95%). CONCLUSION: New are frequently accepted soon after their attendance--a decision can predicted by
