摘要: Abstract Steady-state natural convection over a sphere has been studied numerically. Heat transfer and drag coefficients for wide range of Grashof numbers (101 ⩽ Gr 108) Prandlt 0.72 7.0 have obtained. A plume with mushroom-shaped front forms above the whose length thickness decrease increasing Gr. At high (Gr ⩾ 107 Pr = 0.72), flow separation an associated recirculation vortex exist in wake sphere. The size increases local Nusselt number along surface first decreases, reaches minimum, then steeply at rear
