摘要: Purpose The aims of this study were (a) to longitudinally assess environmental sound recognition (ESR) before and after cochlear implantation in a sample postlingually deafened adults (b) the extent which spectro-temporal processing abilities influence ESR with implants (CIs). Method In longitudinal cohort study, 20 tested hearing aids on Familiar Environmental Sound Test-Identification AzBio sentences quiet pre-CI 6 months post-CI. A subset 11 participants also 12 Pre-CI was assessed using Spectral-temporally Modulated Ripple Test. Results Average accuracy (M = 63.60%) not significantly different from at 65.40%) or 69.09%) (55%), however, improved following by 10.91 percentage points, average. correlated moderately 12-month post-CI scores, trend toward significance for performance months. associated but speech Conclusions present findings failed demonstrate an overall significant improvement implantation. Nevertheless, more than half our showed some degree ESR. Several sounds poorly identified both Spectro-temporal ability prior appears predict postimplantation These indicate need greater attention developing individualized targets rehabilitation.
