摘要: Background and Purpose The purpose of this study was to assess the prevalence characteristics silent cerebral infarction in a population-based consecutive autopsy series residents Hisayama, Kyushu, Japan. Methods Autopsy records, pathological findings, clinical charts 966 Hisayama recorded during 26 years from 1961 1987 were examined (autopsy rate, 82.4%). subjects divided into three groups: those with both clinically apparent strokes pathologically verified infarcts (stroke group), having evidence brain but without stroke episodes (silent neither nor episode (noninfarction group). Risk factors pathology groups compared. Results Silent found 12.9% who had undergone autopsy, its frequency increased age. older, higher systolic or diastolic blood pressure, atrial fibrillation more frequently than noninfarction group. There no significant differences locations between groups, although tended be located deeper area latter. number size smaller group group. Conclusions Diastolic pressure appear strong predictors Japanese general population. Stroke becomes as infarct volume increases.
