摘要: The 1997 Hong Kong outbreak of an avian influenzalike virus, with 18 proven human cases, many severe or fatal, highlighted the challenges novel influenza viruses. Lessons from this episode can improve international and national planning for pandemics in seven areas: expanded commitment to first responses pandemic threats; surveillance key densely populated areas large live-animal markets; new, economical diagnostic tests not based on eggs; contingency procedures work highly pathogenic viruses where biocontainment laboratories do exist; ability health facilities developing nations communicate electronically, nationally internationally; licenses new vaccine production methods; improved equity supply pharmaceutical products, as well availability basic services, during a global crisis. epidemic also underscores need committees country-specific plans.
