Economics and Resource Use Efficiency of Rice Farming in Gondia District of Maharashtra

摘要: The present study examines the cost of cultivation, human labour utilization, profitability and resource use efficiency rice farming under tank irrigated, canal irrigated dry land situation. Data were collected from 150 farmers,75 having holding more than 2 hectares (big) 75 less (small), three villages 25 small big each situation in village. data for agricultural year 2008-09 by following probability proportional random sampling technique through pre- tested questionnaire interview method. Cost operation wise utilization analyzed conventional estimation procedure. Resource was using Cobb-Douglas production function. Findings revealed that per hectare total cultivation higher farms all situations. Labour requirement also highest B:C ratio estimated large analysis indicated farmers inefficient resources. Small observed to be efficient available farm results show there is need making inputs such as seeds, fertilizer, credit etc. affordable accessible so improve efficiency.
