摘要: Bioelectrochemical hydrogen production is a new technology that uses electrochemically active bacteria under an applied voltage to convert organic matter into hydrogen. This generally referred as microbial electrolysis cell (MEC). MECs have gained attention novel alternative method because of their high conversion efficiency, low energy requirement, and applicability many substrates. Consequently, the has been rapidly advanced. However, various technical challenges remain prior scale-up practical application. chapter deals with development MEC includes following sections: definition history production, principles advantages, critical factors affecting performance, anodic biocatalysts challenges, perspectives outlooks from waste.
