Effect of Temperature on Growth and Survival in Juvenile Opossum Pipefish, Microphis brachyurus: First Observations on the Species in Culture Conditions

摘要: In Mexico, natural populations of the opossum pipefish, Microphys brachyurus, are under pressure by anthropogenic alteration their habitat and unregulated fishing as this species is traded an aquarium fish, where its survival low due to inadequate culture practices. The development culturing techniques has been a successful strategy protect many exploited through providing alternative source wild exploitation. aim study was examine effect on growth, condition, pipefish cultured for 6 wk at temperatures 26, 28, 30 C. Pipefish were fed enriched Artemia nauplii maintaining ration rate 14% body weight per day (dry : wet fish). 26 28 C longer, heavier, grew faster, presented better condition than those greater (83%) (30%) but not different (50%). This first report acceptance juveniles that temperature suitable juvenile M . brachyurus culture.
