摘要: The use of alcohol and drugs among adolescents is increasing public health social concern. normative relationship between young Irish people harmful substances must be challenged (United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) Ireland, Changing the Future, 2011). Schools provide perfect platform for implementation education-prevention initiatives facilitated with effective prevention programs (Fletcher et al., 2010). school-based drug currently provided within remit Social Personal Health Education (SPHE). However effectiveness SPHE programme often called into question, highlighting a number issues which will discussed in detail at later stage. This research aimed to investigate teachers’ perspectives Ireland on their role, that school, delivery cannabis education-prevention. ultimate goal this make recommendations order develop responsibility teaching staff schools recognize, help advise pupils who are using or may risk experimenting such as cannabis. This cross-sectional study was conducted 13 second level located Southern region Republic Ireland. questionnaire developed by team Haute Ecole Pedagogique [HEP], Lausanne, Switzerland, collected range data including; demographics, information evidence regarding participation, attitudes perceptions education-prevention. Over half participating teachers had never partaken education activities despite majorities sample recognizing importance expressing interest prevention. Teachers levels satisfaction school were positively correlated attitude toward teacher school’s role need policies, along training, support all highlighted these findings. continued revision development whole integrated approaches involving shared organisation wide approach substance evident throughout.
