QoS-aware multiple spanning tree mechanism over a bridged LAN environment

摘要: Today's emerging traffic is far removed from the trends seen during early days of Ethernet technology. As a result, current IEEE 802.1 standards and its extensions to spanning tree protocol fall short providing satisfactory quality service for which has significant amount QoS-sensitive multimedia VoIP traffic. In near-future scenario campus-wide networks with significantly large layer-2 clusters numerous virtual LANs (VLANs), we show shortcomings basic multiple protocols regard QoS. We propose novel, simple, yet highly effective enhancement achieve high degree QoS by keeping in perspective different characteristics various types Diffserv framework. discuss problems present detail our proposed extension overcome them. Our simulation results good improvements throughput benefits delay all classes conclusively prove claims.
