Retinal hemorrhages detected in 83% examined children. The retinal bilateral 85% affected varied type location. Nonophthalmologists missed 29% patients. Poor visual response, poor hemorrhage correlated strongly demise child. child pigmented scars previous abuse, a condition not previously observed histopathologically our knowledge. fifth survivors largely result cerebral impairment. Severe impairment highly loss vision. Conclusions Shaken causes devastating injury thus are extremely common, but vision is most often injury. patient's reaction presentation showed high correlation survival. Good was good outcome. According literature, when found young children, likelihood that occurred very high. Nonophthalmologists' difficulty detecting may be an important limiting factor identifying babies so they can protected further abuse.
