In vitro study of lectin-latex conjugates for specific bioadhesion

摘要: Abstract The biological activity of lectin-latex conjugates, prepared by covalent coupling (carbodiimide method) different lectins (tomato, asparagus pea and mycoplasma) to poly (styrene) latexes, was tested in vitro with pig gastric mucin (PGM). After incubation the conjugates PGM, followed centrifugation, remaining PGM supernatant measured HPLC. Rate constants interaction between were determined. At equilibrium, which reached after 40 min incubation, 11.8% 13.8% bulk had interacted conjugates. sugar specificity each conjugate demonstrated. seemed be irreversible. Scatchard plots revealed only one type ligand/receptor group per lectin for binding capacities three ranged 8.5 11.5 μg lectin.
