摘要: Abstract Background Discontinuation of, and change in, use of contraceptive methods contributes to high unplanned pregnancy rates. The aims the Contessa study were estimate prevalence reasons for discontinuation assess implications preventive intervention. Methods Prospective cohort 1091 potentially fertile women aged 18–49, carried out during 2008, using a sample drawn from Health Survey England 2006, random probability survey health. We baseline followed by three further waves, exploring patterns use, characteristics experiencing each, change. Findings A percentage 3.7 at risk discontinued and/or changed method in year, compared with 4.7% who used no method.
