摘要: . Multivariate techniques (cluster analysis and Principal Component Analysis) applied on phytoplankton data collected in June, July, August, September 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993 the Gulf of Trieste (Northern Adriatic Sea) highlighted a clear temporal pattern from 1990 to 1993. In summer communities showed dramatic increase dinoflagellatddiatom ratio. particular, during June July 1991 only few specimens diatoms (Cylindrorhecu closreriurn. Probosciu alata, Nirzschio longissimu, Nitzschiu spp.) were collected; this confirmed diatom scarcity before appearance large mucous aggregates (mucilage) Trieste. The differences observed between structure inside ambient waters suggested two hypotheses: 1) not produced gulf, but carried ints gulf by eastern bordering current; 2) few, scarce species with high exudate production that are capable quickly reaching reproductive rate within aggregates.
