摘要: Introduction: The need for diagnostic markers in osteoarthritis (OA) is acute and immediate, as sensitive precise tools that monitor disease activity treatment response are lacking. Collagens - types I, II, III the skeleton of extracellular matrix joint tissues. Joint collagens generally turned over at a low rate, but balance between formation degradation disturbed, leading to loss of, example, cartilage.Areas covered: We discuss reflecting collagen turnover provide examples how they have been applied OA research, well we believe these should be used future. searched PubMed full-text articles written English using different combinations following terms: OA, biomarker, collagen. result narrative review gives from literature.Expert opinion: Collagen show promise, direct measures tissue balance.
