摘要: The photosynthetic rates of a number littoral marine algae were determined over pH range from 8.1 to 10.3, employing the Winkler technique measure evolved oxygen. In large red, brown and green algae, rate fell low value, or complete inhibition, at 9.5 higher. This indicates, in conformity with general permeability theory, that HCO3}-ion cannot readily penetrate cells, is hence not available for photosynthesis.
