摘要: The diurnal activity patterns of sub-Antarctic fur seals,  Arctocephalus tropicalis,  were observed at a non- breeding colony site Gough Island (40°20′S, 9°54′W) during summer. Time budgets adult males were also studied idle and sites, Levels highest the early morning late afternoon. High ambient temperatures depressed interaction rate on dry hauling ground, but increased as result movement heat-stressed seals to from sea where favourable conditions for heat loss exist. largely inactive, in particular which spent 93,2% time inactive colonies 97,9% Ihe beaches. daily change numbers ashore, relative contribution different age sex classes, their location distribution site, prevailing weather influence pattern allocation various activities in  A. tropicalis.  The predominance inactivity is considered be behavioural thermoregulatory response limit endogenous production energy conservation. Both views translate into improved tenure territorial males, those without access water cooling season.
